WHO I MADE IT FOR?
I decided to make Thai Curry Chicken Fried Rice and the Addictive Asparagus for a dinner party last weekend. There were a couple of last minute additions to the guest list and it got me stressin that we wouldn’t have enough to eat (I always cook for a small army). I came up with this at the top of my head in a last minute scramble to get extra food and it worked out! You can obviously make this on the grill and it would be way easier (and better?) but we were working with limited resources in this Boston tundra.
Sirloin tips (2 lbs, cut into 2 inch pieces)
Grapeseed oil (or sesame oil, you do you, 1/2 cup)
Tamari (1/2 cup)
Freshly grated ginger (1 tablespoon) or ground ginger in a pinch (1/2 tablespoon)
Garlic (4 cloves, minced)
- Mix marinade ingredients– grapeseed oil, tamari, ginger, and garlic. Add steak pieces and marinate chilled for 1 hour.
- Set oven to broil high.
- When done marinating, pierce a few pieces through each skewer, careful not to crowd the pieces. You could probably add veggies but again, this was made in a hurry so it was very bare bones.
- Place skewers on broiler pan and sprinkle sesame seeds on both sides. Cook in oven for ~10 mins on each side. Serve immediately.
BOTTOM LINE: Easy last minute addition, not the greatest but a good fall back option.
